Your Estate Plan at the Law Office of Jeffrey Dorko
Passing your wealth on to your heirs through your estate requires more than just a
will, especially if your goal is to protect your assets from estate taxes and avoid
probate.
Living Trusts - Living Trusts are one of the most common estate planning tools in
use today. This legal arrangement creates a separate entity called a Living Trust. A
Living Trust is called that simply because it is created while you are alive (as
opposed to a "testamentary" trust which is a part of your Will and only comes into
effect after death).
Who needs a Living Trust? Almost anyone with an estate of $100,000 or more can
benefit from having a living trust. Estates of $100,000 or more are often subject to
probate, which can cost up to 5% of the estate's value in court and legal fees.
More sophisticated living trusts can be structured for more complex family
situations. Remarried spouses with children from a previous marriage can use an
advanced estate plan using a revocable living trust to ensure their children receive
their proper inheritance.
Avoiding probate. Living Trusts avoid probate, and are completely private. The
courts have no control over the Trust's assets, and do not tie up the assets in a
lengthy and costly probate process.

Living Trust estate planning in Berks County, originally avoided by the older
traditional lawyers who did not want to see their future probate fees disappear, now
has become established as one of the preferred methods of estate planning in Berks
County.
Living Trust estate planning in Berks County, PA. was available to sophisticated
legal clients before 1990. After that time, Living Trust estate planning in Berks
County, PA became popular with the general public. This was greatly due to public
seminars on Living Trust estate planning by Berks County attorney Jeffrey F. Dorko.
With over 16 years of experience in Living Trust estate planning in Berks County,
Jeff Dorko helped to change the landscape of Living Trust estate planning in Berks
County Pennsylvania. In the early 1990's, clients who requested living trust estate
planning from their traditional family lawyers, were discouraged by those lawyers.
However, with the knowledge gained in Jeff Dorko's seminars, these clients now have
forced even the most change resistant attorneys to learn about living trusts and to
provide living trust estate planning when requested.
As a result, clients who do living trust estate planning in Berks County PA have an
estate plan which will help them while they are living, if they become disabled, and
will distribute their estate at their death in the manner they desire while greatly
reducing attorney's fees for their family.
